Driving in China - theory test App Reviews

Good

Just got my licence

Decent but quirky

The content is good, however the app itself is quirky. For example, in one of the review modes it cuts off the question so you have to go back to the other mode to review it. Also, some of the translations dont make sense.

Worked For Me

Using this program I passed the Chinese driving written test with a 95, so it works well. The Chinglish on the real test was different than the Chinglish in this app, but in most cases the meaning was the same. I gave it 4 stars because it has a lot of bad translations, typographical errors, and is a bit buggy; still, it works, and that is what counts. Also, many of the illustrations and text were small, leaving unused space on the iPad screen. The illustrations on the actual test were much larger and easier to see.

Disappointing

I am using the English version, hoping that this app could help me pass the newly update 2013 version of the exam. Unfortunately, the translations are far from being coherent, and often times when using the app I find myself wondering what the questions are actually asking. In addition, the program has some very confusing user interface, which makes navigating a challenge. In short, I like the idea of this application, but am thoroughly disappointed with its execution. Hopefully the developer can put in some much needed improvements soon.

Crash fixed but still problems

Thanks for fixing the crash problem quickly with your new update but you still broke something else. Your new update deleted my self created list. Not only did you delete it, you cant recreate another one. Nothing is pinning to it. Please fix it ASAP. It would really be nice if you shared the list between the iPad and iPhone apps. Thanks. Otherwise its a really helpful app.

Seems to match the real exam

I used another test app and failed miserably. This app seems to closely match the actual exam questions and therefore its exactly what I need. Great app. UPDATE: scored 98% thanks to this app. Thanks!!

Does the trick

Study this for a few hours, and passing the test will be a breeze. A few of the translations are off (bumpy road = sleeping policeman?!?), but overall, a good app. Visuals are almost identical to the actual test.

Perfect DL Preparation

This app is the best one available to prepare yourself in any language for the Chinese Drivers License writing test. Supports favorites and re-learning of difficult and wrong ones. I learned 2 weeks every evening 30-60min and passed the test for C1 DL with 100 points. Note that some translations are not perfect, but nor are they in the real test. So just learn it that way and it will do it.

Great app for driving test

I applied the driver license thinking i will have time to prepare 2 weeks because other foreigners said in their blog that u can take the exam 10 days after u applied it. However, when i applied, the lady officer asked me do u want to take the exam tomorrow? I said yes. So i have 24 hrs include sleeping to prepare. I have no books. Just this app... Studied all questions 1 times. Did hard test 1 times, medium test 1 times, and mixed test 3 times. I passed with 97 scores. This apps get almost all questions and answers of the real test. Only 1 question that wording is different. Great app!!

Great APP

I studied each section and it took about 4 hours, went in next day and scored a 94. Very good program and very close to actual test questions. Highly recommend.

Not bad, but not great either

Uses this app to study for my driving test in November 2014. A lot of the content was similar, but none of the wording of the questions was the same as on the test. I also got 3 questions on my test that were not in this app. Despite these flaws, enough of the questions were close enough to help me pass, first try. Definitely a helpful app, but not perfect.

Necessary app for the Beijing drivers license exam

Studied for a day and somehow passed. Couldnt have done it without this app. A lot of questions, similar to the rest of the country, dont make a lot of sense, so you need to prep. Knew every answer to the difficult and average questions. Then made sure I saw every easy question. Scored a 92! Felt my chances were about 40% Id pass going in since my practice exams were an 86, 87, 89. FYI, The questions arent an exact match, but pretty close. You should be able to recognize the question youre being presented with on the formal test with the prep question.

Crashes on 3GS, running 6.1.6

Crashes when choosing training or exam. Send feedback doesnt work either. Possibly related to using older model phone (3GS)

Best way to pass the test

My wife and I tried to take the test cold and failed. You have to get 90%, 100 questions out of a pool of 1300. The translation makes the questions confusing and the test itself is tricky. There is no study guide in English and the test is very comprehensive. Even Chinese people usually have to study for a few weeks and fail the first time. This app is laid out extremely well. The study, training and exam sections are a great way to practice and there is a progress report to show how you are doing. Learn the police hand signals! They can be confusing and each test has at least 3 questions about them. Also the point system. Be sure to review all 1300 questions and be able to pass the practice exams above 90% before attempting the real one or you will be wasting your time. After a week of studying with this app, about 1-2 hrs per day we both passed. 96&94%. There are some study tests on the Internet for free but they are not as comprehensive. This one is well worth the money Good luck!

Very helpful, but not perfect.

This app definitely helped me pass the Shanghai written driving test in the first round. Unfortunately with new questions this year, not all were on the exam so I failed the first test with 88. They let me retake and I got a 92! Very thankful. The Training function and starring questions I want to review was a good exercise to look at only questions I didnt know.
